Get to know the way of living of Moose

“Hunting an animal becomes much more difficult when you have zero knowledge about the animal concerned. When you know where the animal will be at a particular time and how will be behaving, it becomes easier for you to make your hunt smoother. Get in touch with the way of living of moose and you can do much better than what you would have thought of.”

Before going to hunt for Moose, you need to know certain number of things about them. It includes their habitation, their habits, their way of living, their comforts and non comforts, their mati9ng habits etc. When you possess the knowledge about the animal you are hunting, it becomes much easier for you to complete your hunt in a successful way.

The forests of North America, Europe and Russia are popularly known for Moose. It is so because they love numerous lakes and swamps and want to build their home with thick timber. They are known as strong swimmers and have the potential to dive to the depths of 13 feet. They are always in search of aquatic plants and are therefore at times known as cud chewing vegetation browsers.

As for the human beings, the diets of moose also differ as per the seasons.  Winter is the hunger season for them. They eat needle bearing trees, pine cones, buds, twigs, branches, hardwood bark. In summers, they feed themselves on trees and shrubs, forest grasses, aquatic plants and various forms of herbs. You might have guessed by now that they are strictly vegetarian and are on the constant look out for tender barks and young saplings.

Basing our facts on the surveys, we can assert that an adult eats almost 22 to 30 lbs of food a day and about 66 lbs of food in summer. While preparing for winters, moose increases their body weight by almost 25 percent. Now, I am going to elaborate on some of the tips on moose hunts by letting you know how they will probably behave when you are around them.

Moose are solitary and docile animals. They have a strong scent and a deep call. During winters, they are usually found in family groups. They do not harm you until you provoke them. A male antler may hold off a predator and their hooves usually prove to be their defence. When they are out to attack on you, they will be using their front feet. For more detailed information, you can have a hunting guide with you.

It is delightful to watch them (but from a distance please) since they are bigger and much faster. They are capable of running at the speed of 35 mph. you must be very careful because they may seem to be passive at times but are all ready for the attack. On the top of that, they make no difference between dogs, wolves and human beings. They are all one for them.

Most followed Duck hunting tips

“Tips are required in every field. In hunting world, however, these tips are much more important than usual. If you do not follow them or read them before, you can have dangerous consequences on the field.  You might not have had a good experience reading them before but now such is not the case. I have tried to provide you a comprehensive list of tips after doing a thorough brain storming.”

There are two things to be considered in the duck hunting. First one is volume and the second one is technique. The latter one requires more attention than the former. Therefore, former should be dealt with properly by buying a duck call. An inexpensive mallard duck call will do which is forgiving and produces a sound without any need to blow hard into the call. This process proves very efficient for the young hunters.

An efficient calling is equally important as other factors like location of the hunt, decoy spreads, good camouflage discipline. Choosing a right duck call is important in the early stages. If you are not able to do it properly, you must not give up. Instead, you must try buying another one or swapping it with one of your friends.

Following the below mentioned tips might do some good to you and your hunting trip:

§  Add decoys of different brands or sizes to add realism to your hunt

§  Written record of your hunts-successful or unsuccessful

§  Do not hunt at same spots

§  No discriminations in terms of effort and time

In addition to that, a quality duck calling video also helps. The instructional videos telling you each step is very beneficial for the young hunters. You will yourself see the difference if you are regular in listening and viewing these videos. Bringing ducks into your decoys is quite a difficult task and this solution might take you a long way.

Spending on buying an appropriate decoy is a sensible action on your part as a hunter. Super Magnums cost more but an advantage in them is that they add more visibility to the decoy allowing more ducks coming your way. Different sizes of the decoy give an impression of juvenile birds present around. Creating motion in your decoy is another popular method. Try doing it by using jerk cords (although expensive) and it will be better if you can afford to buy “mallard machine”.

You must follow your own progress because there is nothing better than learning from one’s own mistakes. Notice the patterns in duck behaviour and change your techniques accordingly now and then.

You can further increase your chances for duck hunting by hunting not only in water but also on land. Change your hunting spots frequently because you never know where the ducks will be on a particular day.

There should be no discriminations with respect to effort and time. Tactics should be followed on regular basis and hunting habits should be consistent. All will be well in the hunting domain by following the above mentioned tips.

Narrating a tips-oriented mule deer story

“Narrating a story is an art too. It should be formulated in such a way that the listened are glued to what you say and are always excited about your next word. In the hunting world, stories must contain tips attached to them. Only then, the second party would be interested in what you are saying. Know what the tips should be when you are narrating a story of mule deer…”

While sharing your hunting success stories, you need to very careful about what you are asserting. It may make no difference if the recipient does not have any knowledge of hunting and the concerned animals. If, on the other side, you hit someone with even partial knowledge of hunting, do think twice before speaking.

Asserting ‘deer’ will not be enough, you will have to mention the type as to what you are talking about…mule deer or white tail deer.  Both have their own characteristics and the other person will know and will catch you red handed if you are intending to tell a fake story. Telling lies is an art too and not everyone can afford to master it.

Mule deer is much larger than the other one known as white tail deer. In a sense, you will have to go to him rather than him coming back to you. Although each hunter will tell you different method if you ask them; the most common and most famous one is spot and stalk method. While you are acting as a narrator of the story, do insert some tips in it which will make your story more interesting and your listeners will increase gradually.

Curious about the tips? Go on reading…

  • Carry topographical paper or GPS maps for the mule deer hunt in the north and south facing slopes
  • Make various mental grids and see each grid (visible landscape) with an aim to spot the mule deer. Stop the scope in each grid so that you d not miss any deer.
  • Must carry a backpack with quiet zippers and hydration bladder. When it is the time to hit the trophy buck, nothing should be missing and your should be in a resting position so that you act as quick as possible
  • There will be no smooth path for you. So, make sure that you have good hunting boots which indulging in Africa hunting
  • Go for camouflage clothing like Ghillie Suits or Prairie Ghosts
  • Scent eliminator is something which will be used in any case, if you are out for a hunting trip
  • Range finder will help you informing the area in which mule deer can inhabit
  • Patience cannot be replaced by anything else. You need to wait for the deer to be in the appropriate position to be hit. He might be bathing, hiding behind a tree or many be indulging in some other activity
  • Mechanical broad heads of good quality. As opposed to fixed blade broad heads, they fly in straight direction and have greater cutting edge diameter with much less weight.

Bag those Stubborn Hunting Hogs

“Sometimes, trapping the animal is more important than hunting. This is the reason that I am discussing the four tricks in which you can trap the hogs. The stubborn and smart hogs need some strategizing on part of hunter to get enter in the trap. There are four types each of which has distinctive characteristics.”

This article is about catching hogs without being on the property. There is a big difference between hunting and trapping hogs i.e. removing a large number of animals from the property with the help of right set up.  I am going to elaborate upon some of different designs used to trap wild hogs.

There is a personalisation involved in trapping the hogs. Many styles are available out of which you can choose which one fits your property in the best way possible and matches your hunting style as well. Size matters here. Some of the traps which interest me and which you can use for your next hunting trip are:

  • Spring Door trap
  • Rooting trap door
  • Guillotine Door hog trap
  • Permanent hog traps

In the first one, spring is attached to the door and it is made from angle iron or square tubing. With respect to the kind of door, we can say that other hogs can enter the door. With some more hogs inside the trap luring the others outside, there may be more than what we think them to be. The negative point is that the doors are not lock shut. Hogs can get stuck in the door and let the others inside come out. Hog hunts are different from this but you can easily trap them this way.

Design wise, rooting trap door is very similar to the above one. It rests upon the bottom of the trap or on the ground in the tipped position. Hogs are smart too and they can easily come out of these kinds of traps by lifting the rooting door.

A guillotine door hog trap is very similar to human beings’ thinking. The front door falls down and usually locks in the place where the trap is tipped. While building this type of trap, you should take care that it does not hurt you. Front door of this type of door is more dependent than the other doors. It is so because it gets locked and doesn’t move until you get there to check it thoroughly. It is better to install a latch to double lock it for the larger hogs. There is a possibility for adjustable bar as well which can be raised and lowered accordingly.

Permanent hog traps are good for larger number of animals. You can trap more than one hog. Some people are interested in monitoring the traps very closely to have as many hogs as possible. The front door is called hog trap front where locking mechanisms are there.

How to Choose the Most Appropriate Hunting Guide?

Waterfowl hunts involve the hunting of mostly ducks and geese and is considered one of the most popular forms of hunting. Waterfowl hunts provide a nice blend of both – hunting based adrenaline boost and the thrill which is associated with outdoor sports.

In terms of outdoors, not many hunting trips can match the grandeur of elk hunts or hog hunts. Elk hunts require a detailed preparation, and most times this starts before predawn, goes via the hunter’s mind and then provides results in the form of hogs. Same way, pheasant hunting provides a different angle to hunting, where a split of a second actually means a split of a second and this type of hunting involves assimilating a lot of information like physical characteristics, living conditions and reactions of pheasants. Off course, this comes with experience, but a hunter needs to know the basic aspects at least.

Talking about Africa based hunting; no other place in the world provides such type of raw and unprepared hunting grounds like the lands of Africa.

All types of hunting activities ranging from coyote hunting to pheasant hunts and from white tail hunts to any other type of hunting activity are based in a particular area. You don’t visit a garden and start hunting, right? So hunting guides coupled with a broad and comprehensive database will provide hunters what they want, nothing else, often told in terms of hunting as – more hunting and less searching.

Any hunting guide is born via hunting experiences, feedback and information. If the platform is great, everything else rests effectively on it. Same way, it is important to zero-in on a hunting database which provides appropriate reviews, information and feedback made available in the easiest of ways.

Opponents (read pessimists) may even argue that the real test of hunting is when the information comes in bits & pieces and the hunter needs to connect the bits. But, for a hunter, the best and the test should be in the field, not sitting near a computer trying to attach half-baked information.

Not every hunt is successful, but for passionate hunters, the trill is not only in the catch, but the journey as well. Whatever little information, even from the outfitter’s point of view is available, would help fellow hunting enthusiasts. Best hunting guides’ websites over the internet collate this date to provide a healthy database of information and experience.

Strategy plans for the Goose Hunt

“Strategies make a project a success. Let not your hunting quest is tagged as a failure. Apply the tips and techniques mentioned in the article below and have a wonderful hunting experience. Gooses have some particular characteristics which must be followed. Their routine should become your routine to catch them big at the right moment.”

The location does not make any difference if you know the right tactics to catch a goose. The real adventure of hunting is felt only when you have caught the bird or the animal you are hunting. Always go by the proven tricks since you cannot play around while hunting. It discourages you all the more and the hunting passion descends gradually. I have no such intentions for you. Therefore, I am here to share a part of goose hunting experience with you thereby providing you the tactics. These tips might help you in experiencing a successful hunt.

One of the most important tips is to practice the hunt in the early and the late season calling patterns. In the former one, geese are found in family groups. Your aim in this should be to keep the birds interesting and coming your way. In this season, you will be hunting the ‘Home Flocks’. Geese are quite comfortable in these areas and therefore do not even get scared with the human beings. You might not see the large waves of geese in the early season as opposed to the late season.

The aggressive calling works well in the late season. The best trick is to mimic them and furthermore convince them to land in your decoys. In any circumstance, you must not indulge in overcalling since the goose interprets it as unnatural and there are chances that they will flair. There are several common things which are needed in the late season but are of no use in the early season or vice versa. Following the tips mentioned in this article, you will surely experience a successful hunting trip.

The flags decoys are one such equipment in the Goose hunt. In the late season, you must use it at the right time. You must use them when the geese have the good view of your decoy spread. You must use your flags appropriately. You must life the flag a few feet far from the ground and start flapping it three times to stimulate the geese who is about to stretch their wings. The sole purpose is to get the goose land in your spread. Practice does make a man or rather hunter for that case perfect. The right usage of the flag must be practiced many times before going to the field.

Let your hunting tricks move smoothly. Only then can you attain the tag of the successful hunter. Hunting is no fun if not successful. It discourages you even more. Maintain the spirit of hunting and go on with the hunting trips.

Techniques for Coyote and Pheasant hunting

“The tension of hunting converts itself into fun when you have the hands of experts at your back. Experts are to be followed while hunting if are thinking to be successful in any case. The local hunters and other hunting experts spent the majority of their times with animals observing their routines and other habits. Therefore, the tips and techniques told by the hunting gurus must be followed. They are the golden tips to bring home a trophy animal.”

How do you decide if hunting or a particular kind of hunting is challenging enough or not, the most important factor while deciding this is the nature of the animal. It’s all about the kind of animal you are hunting and that particular animal’s routine habits and behavior. This article hits at the Pheasants and Coyotes.

There are some of the positives and negatives involved in every person and animal. The strengths and the weaknesses are always and the expertise hunter always had its edging point at the weaknesses of several animals. Let us learn something about Coyotes. They are known as the adaptable animals with very observable senses and huge bearable power.

Unfortunately, because of the presence of some of the traits, they are very vulnerable to the local hunters. Their quality or weakness of eating anything or everything makes hunters all the more happy. Their calling [process is further simplified and the no more complex deploys are employed or even need to be employed.

One of the most successful techniques for Coyote hunting is baiting. The person hunting is supposed to place scraps of meat, other tempting food or animal carcasses in the open field. The next step is waiting for the shot when you see the coyote around and track their steps.

Another interesting technique for hunting Coyotes is the calling process which includes both imitation and distress call. The former is inclusive of vocal calls, mating calls, challenge calls, alarm calls and locating calls. These tricks vary from season to season. If one trick does not work, one must try another. Like human beings, animals do experience mood changes further leading to changing preferences.

Distress call aims at bringing prey to the foreground. As far as Coyote is concerned, they eat small birds, squirrels, mice, rodents, rabbits etc. On your part, you can call the Coyotes by purchasing commercial distress calls and otherwise making a squeak by blowing into your hands. Similarly, there are techniques involved for pheasant hunts as well.

First of all, your shotgun must be fully loaded. As with the Coyotes, the pheasants as well follow a routine. Once you understand their routine, you will be very helpful for you while hunting them. They usually spend their night at roost sites i.e. waist high grass area. With the first ray of the sunlight, they go towards the roadsides and grain fields where they can find gravel or grit. By the mid morning, they go towards corn fields, brush patches or native grasses. If you know this routine very well, you can be assured that you will catch a pheasant very soon.
